Youth Rally 2014
I hope you are well. It is time to be thinking about the Annual Mountain Ave. Weekend of Service and Praise. (aka Youth Rally) You may find all the information on the weekend, plus registration at www.ma-coc.org. If you plan on attending please fill out the attached form and return it to Mountain Ave or register online by March 12th.
This year to control costs we will only order enough T-shirts to guarantee a shirt for teens who are pre-registered. Of course as always we encourage students who can come to join us even if they are not pre-registered. It is just helpful to have an idea of the number of students coming so we can be better prepared.
The cost for adult sponsors and teens $10 and will cover their meals, t-shirt, performance and supplies for the weekend. Housing will be in homes of the church members in our area. Payment will be due at the time of arrival (or before). If there are teens who are unable to pay, please contact me as there are several scholarships available. We do not want cost to play any factor in the teensâ€™ attendance.
Our theme for this year is â€œWho do YOU say I am?â€� from Matthew 16:13-20. We are so excited about our speaker â€“ B. Chris Simpson who is a minister at the Holmes Rd Church of Christ in Memphis Tennessee and a graduate of Harding University. I am looking forward to a weekend spent equipping our teens to come to know who Jesus is. We are equally excited about our sponsor this year. Harding University has graciously decided to sponsor us and help cover the costs of some of our weekend.
The weekend will start Friday evening, March 28th, with registration beginning at 6 p.m. We will kick the night off with worship and a lesson at 7 p.m. There will be lessons, worship, and fun Saturday, including the Magic of Faith, from local magician and youth worker Michael C. DeSchalit. The teens will also get a chance to serve others during our time of service on Saturday afternoon.
Again this year due to insurance policies ALL teens attending the youth rally will need to bring a signed Activity Participation Agreement. While I dislike having to require this, we can not allow a teen who does not have a signed form to participate in the service activities or be housed by our congregation members. If you have any questions about this please call me.
If you know that your teens will be attending and you will have your church van; we will need some extra vans for our service project and I would appreciate knowing if yours is available.
